MY PRACTICEClients: I have worked frequently with older teenagers and young adults, as well as older adults of both genders, and with couples and occasionally families; I have worked with people of all sexual identities, and with Fillipinos, Fillipinas, Fillipinos/Fillipinas-Americans, African-Americans, Japanese and Japanese -Americans, and Chinese-Americans. I would like to work with elders. For seven years I have held grief groups for women who have lost parents. Psychological and emotional problems with which I have worked most often: Grief Approaches to Therapy: I draw on a few, basic approaches to therapy which vary according to the client and the problem. Most often, I use cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, psychodynamic (object relations), family systems, narrative and multicultural feminist approaches to therapy. During our sessions, we will focus on your strengths and resources as well as the problems that brought you here. The Therapy Process: When we begin our therapy work together, I will rely on you to tell me your goals for therapy. We will assess our progress toward these goals periodically. You will have my full attention. I will be interested in your past successes in making change and your present and past friendships and family relationships. Our relationship is central to the work we do. I consider our working relationship to be a collaborative one and I will appreciate feedback about what you find helpful or difficult. I will need thorough, reliable information about your situation and the difficulties you are having. Supervision: I offer supervision for both MSW and MAC pre-licensure candidates. A supervisory contract will outline my responsibilities and yours. If you are interested in discussing supervision further, please contact me. |
