EDUCATION AND TRAINING

I have a Ph.D. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.S.W. from the University of Washington.  In my professional training, I have had experience in a community mental health agency working with adults and older adults and in a university counseling center working with young adults. I also have experience working in a community based sexual assault organization. Before my graduate training to become a professional therapist, I was a college teacher for many years. During that time I counseled many students on personal and career matters as a faculty member.

Therapy Workshops and University Courses Offered:

I have offered continuing education workshops through the University of Washington School of Social Work: “Death, Dying and Bereavement” in the fall of 1991, “Counseling Women” in the falls of 1992-1994; and “Grieving in America” in the winter of 1996.

I have also taught courses since I have been a psychotherapist. They are “Abnormal Psychology” at the University of Washington, Bothell campus and at Antioch University, and a course on body stigma entitled “The Body: gender society and symbol” at both of those local universities.
